Cooking with dad is a flagship Organic Cookery School project, first piloted in 2006. It’s main aim is to engage male carers and children in fun and practical group cookery classes in community venues, schools and children’s centres.
Some Facts and Figures:
We’ve worked with over 5000 dads/male carers and their children since 2006, in over 300 schools, children’s centres and community venues.
Our youngest dad was 17 and our oldest a great-grandad aged 84 years old!
Our most popular recipes include: Tomato and Paprika Biscuits, Chocolate and Beetroot Muffins, and Rainbow Pizzas made with our legendary Magic Tomato Sauce.
“Cooking with Dad has been excellent fun for me and my daughter and has given us something different to do on rainy days. Previously we had only cooked packet mixes together so it is great now to have a cupboard full of raw ingredients and the confidence to experiment with them to create new delicious treats.
Most of these types of activities are geared towards Mums and children, so to have a course for Dads who work all week and rarely have time for this kind of messy, educational fun is a blessing. The Organic Cookery School staff are extremely friendly, patient and knowledgeable and provide a fun learning environment for both the children and the parents.
The dads at Little Waves in Gosport are extremely grateful for the time The Organic Cookery School has given us and we have become something of a talking point amongst some of the groups of Mums in the local area.”

“A massive benefit is being able to attract some of our “hard to engage” parents, who have been happy to attend The Organic Cookery School courses, as they found them very welcoming and inclusive. This was then a valuable opportunity for us to improve relationships between dads and the school and additionally between dads and their children! I feel they now see school in a more positive light and are more likely to engage with us in the future.”
