Lentil Shepherd's Pie

Lentil Shepherd's Pie - The Organic Cookery School

We’re delighted to share one of our favourite meat-free family favourites, which your kids will love making with you. It’s one of the recipes featured in our Meat-Free Masterclasses run in partnership with Knorr, where you can #cheatonmeat without missing out on flavour or nutrition. For more on the campaign (and extra recipe ideas), visit Knorr - Master Meat-Free with The Organic Cookery School.

N.B. Children should always be supervised when cooking, and an adult should oversee the use of heat as well as all preparation involving sharp utensils.

Try something different

Try using alternative vegetables in this pie. Chopped peppers, sweetcorn, grated courgettes would all work well in the base, and or try sweet potato mash instead of traditional spuds .

Did you know?

  • King Edward and Maris Piper are both great for mash. Smoked paprika adds a lovely flavour instead of sweet paprika. Use one whole stock cube or stock pot to 250ml boiled water, to make a concentrated stock for this sauce.

Thanks to Knorr and all the fabulous families who helped us kick off the project with The Hairy Bikers in September 2019.
